Hello and welcome to Learning in Museums!

If you’re reading this then thanks for stopping by and welcome to the first ever blog post on the Learning in Museums site!

What will be on the blog?

This post will be the first of many on the topic of museum learning. Informed by conversations with museum professionals, the posts will touch on current ideas, issues and debates that face the profession.

With a particular focus on discussing case studies of museum learning, these posts will also highlight some of the amazing work that various museum professionals carry out on a daily as well as on a long term strategic basis.

Why are questions so important?

Asking questions is absolutely vital to engage in learning and that applies to this blog too.

What are the current challenges facing museum professionals today in regard to funding, planning, delivery and reviewing museum learning?

How can museums and learning programmes be more accessible to a wide range of visitors and learners?

Why does museum learning supplement classroom-based learning so well?

These examples are just some of the questions that will be asked, and indeed answered, in future posts. Asking questions such as these can help us as museum professionals learn from and with each other. together. In doing so, Learning in Museums will become a space to explore museum learning.

A final question for you…

What questions would you like to see answered by museum professionals?
